This token represents a boat with, in the background, the 3 towers of La Rochelle, guardians of the entrance to the port since the 14th century. They are the remains of the city`s fortifications. In order, from left to right, we have the Lantern Tower, the Chain Tower and the Saint-Nicolas Tower. In addition to its role as a lighthouse and a landmark for navigation, the Lantern Tower was used as a prison for a long time.
