| Obverse description | The shield-shaped field is divided diagonally by a raised band bearing the legend U.S. NAVAL FLEET. In the upper right triangle, a detailed relief scene depicts warships at sea with rays of sunlight in the background. In the lower left triangle, an anchor appears above the date 1908, with a right-facing bust of Admiral Robley D. Evans (nicknamed 'Fighting Bob') in naval uniform at the lower center, inscribed FIGHTING BOB. The whole is framed by ornate rococo scrollwork borders with a suspension loop at the top. |
