Obverse description Full-length figure of the Statue of Liberty in high relief at center, raising a torch in her right hand and holding a tablet inscribed JULY IV MDCCLXXVI in her left, with rays of light emanating from the torch. The Manhattan skyline is depicted in the background field on either side. Dates 1865 and 1965 appear flanking the statue in the lower field, with decorative stars interspersed throughout. The circumferential legend reads in two arcs around the border.
