Reverse description The reverse features a central circular medallion depicting sunflowers with the legend KANSAS above and SUNFLOWER below, surrounded by a ring of stars. The name KANSAS appears in large relief lettering in the center field, with the inscription ATTAINED STATEHOOD JANUARY 29, 1861 below, and a ribbon cartouche bearing 34TH STATE at the base. Two olive branches frame the central design on either side, all within a beaded border. The Franklin Mint mark FM appears at the very bottom.
