Reverse description The reverse displays a central medallion in high relief depicting Indiana's state flower, the peony, surrounded by a ring of stars with the legends INDIANA above and PEONY below. Flanking the central field are two large laurel branches in relief. The legend INDIANA appears prominently in the center field, below which ATTAINED STATEHOOD DECEMBER 11, 1816 is inscribed in two lines, with 19TH STATE displayed on a ribbon scroll at the bottom. The Franklin Mint mark appears below the scroll.
