| Obverse description | Relief outline map of the state of Alabama occupies the central field, with the capital city of Montgomery indicated by a five-pointed star and the name inscribed on the map. A cotton boll branch in high relief is superimposed over the left side of the map. The legend ALABAMA arcs along the upper field, and THE HEART OF DIXIE curves along the lower field; engraver's initials CR appear at the base of the map. |
