Obverse description Two oval-framed busts in high relief occupy the central field: Emperor Hirohito (wearing spectacles and bow tie) to the left and Queen Elizabeth II (wearing a pearl necklace) to the right. The Japanese imperial chrysanthemum seal appears in the upper field between the ovals, and a spray of UK national emblems — the Tudor rose, Scottish thistle, and shamrock — is depicted in the lower field between the ovals. The maker's initials D·C and the inscription MADE IN ENGLAND appear in the lower exergue.
