Obverse description The obverse of the token reflects the theme of the 350th anniversary of the birth of Peter I - the first emperor of Russia, the founder of the Russian fleet, the winner of the Northern War, the founder of St. Petersburg and the Mint, where, as Peter the Great commanded, `gold coins are made in St. Petersburg.` Under Peter I, the tradition of firing a cannon shot in the Peter and Paul Fortress was born.
