Reverse description A large naturalistically rendered English rose in high relief at the centre of the field, with stem and leaves extending downward. The legend RUGBY FOOTBALL UNION curves along the upper periphery, CENTENARY along the lower periphery, with the founding and centenary dates 1871 and 1971 flanking the stem in the mid-field. The engraver's initials G.C appear at the base of the stem.
