| Obverse description | Allegorical scene in high relief depicting Britannia, helmeted and holding a trident, presenting a youthful personification of New South Wales — holding a shepherd's crook — to a seated figure of France, enthroned and holding a sceptre, with an eagle at the base of her throne. A kangaroo appears in the right field. The engraver's signature L.C. WYON. F. appears in the lower centre, with the Roman date MDCCCLV in the exergue. |
