Reverse description The lower half of the field features a polar projection globe with rays emanating from a rising sun at the bottom, marked with the latitude 86°14'. At the top, the crowned Norwegian royal arms flanked by palm, laurel and oak branches. Central inscriptions record the names NANSEN and JOHANSEN with their farthest north latitude of 86°14' N.BR. and the Fram's record of 85°57' N.BR. The circular legend around the border contains the Norwegian motto and expedition dates.
