Obverse description Right-facing bust of Duke Filippo Maria Visconti in high relief, depicted wearing armour and a soft-topped biretta with a raised brim. The effigy shows the duke with a short beard, rendered with strong portraiture character. The circular Latin legend runs along the outer border of the field.

Reverse description Highly detailed equestrian scene in deep relief depicting Duke Filippo Maria Visconti in full armour on a rearing horse facing left, wearing a crested helmet and holding an upright lance; his helmet is surmounted by a dragon crest. To the right, a front-facing armoured knight and a page on horseback face right. The background features a mountainous landscape with fortified buildings and, at the upper right, a colossal standing female statue on a tall pedestal. The maker's inscription appears in the lower exergue.
