Obverse description The obverse features a relief portrait bust of Soviet ace pilot Ivan Kozhedub set within a shaped cartouche at the top of the field. Below, two WWII-era aircraft — a Soviet fighter marked with a red star and a German aircraft — are depicted in an aerial combat scene against a mirror-polished field with cloud motifs.
