Obverse description Two interlocking ovals in the field: the left oval depicts a standing soldier facing right with artillery pieces and a cannon wheel behind him, while the right oval shows a standing naval officer facing left with warships in the background. Above, between the two ovals, a biplane is depicted amid radiant sunrays and clouds, flanked by flags (Union Flag to left, Royal Standard to right). Below the ovals, a royal crown surmounts crossed flagpoles, flanked by laurel and palm sprays tied with a bow. The registered design number and maker's initials appear in the upper border.
