| Obverse description | The obverse depicts the biblical scene of the Presentation of the Most Holy Theotokos in the Temple in high relief against a polished dark field: Saints Joachim and Anna (both with haloes) stand to the left accompanying the young Virgin Mary, shown as a small haloed child in the center, while the High Priest Zechariah, also haloed, stands to the right extending his hand in welcome before the temple portal. A Cyrillic legend arcs along the upper rim. |
