Reverse description The reverse features a large blank cartouche in the center intended for engraving, surmounted by a cursive monogram 'AL' in the upper field. Around the lower portion, allegorical attributes of the arts and learning are depicted in relief: stacked books, a painter's palette with brushes, an Ionic capital scroll, and a female bust emerging from a laurel wreath at right. A wreath of laurel and oak frames the composition along the rim.
