Surrounding the central composition are six incuse medallions depicting historical Romanian coins in relief: the 1 banu 1867, the 1 leu 1870, two 1 leu coins of the royal period, a "Bun pentru 1 leu" token, and a 1 leu piece bearing a corn ear motif.
