Obverse description Conjoined busts of Tsar Nicholas II and Empress Alexandra in profile facing right, Nicholas II in military uniform with epaulettes and decorations, Alexandra wearing a tiara, pearl necklace, and a star order. The engraver's signature J.C. CHAPLAIN appears in the lower field. The legends NICOLAS·II and ALEXANDRA· arc along the left and right periphery respectively.

Reverse description The reverse features a central inscribed text panel flanked by decorative laurel and floral branches, with a depiction of a minting press or architectural element to the right. At the top, the Russian Imperial double-headed eagle coat of arms appears in high relief. The inscription records the imperial visit to the Paris Mint on 7 October 1896.
