Below, two allegorical sculptural groups symbolising science and the arts flank a central arch, within which the university emblem — comprising a compass, set square, gear wheel, and Star of David enclosing the founding date 1816 — is depicted in relief. The curved legend LVIVSKA POLYTECHNIKA / NATIONAL UNIVERSITY runs along the inner arch, with the mint mark of the NBU Banknote Printing and Minting Works visible to the left.
