| Reverse description | The iconic Athenian owl (little owl, Athena noctua), sacred to the goddess Athena, depicted standing in three-quarter view to the right with large globular eyes, in high relief, closely modelled after the reverse type of Athenian silver tetradrachms of the early Classical period. An olive sprig with a berry appears to the upper left. The abbreviated Athenian ethnic ΑΘΕ and a crescent symbol appear to the right of the owl. The engraver's signature Μ. ΤΟΜΠΡΟΣ is inscribed along the lower exergue. |
