Obverse description The new Canadian national flag, depicted in high relief as if billowing in the wind on a vertical flagpole positioned to the left. The flag displays the central maple leaf design with vertical red bar panels. The date 1965 appears in the exergue below a horizontal line dividing the field.

Reverse description Plain field with a beaded border encircling the entire reverse. At the top, the circular seal of the Canadian Historical Association featuring a maple leaf and the founding date 1922 appears in relief. In the centre, the bilingual legends NEW FLAG and LE DRAPEAU DU CANADA are separated by a decorative ornament comprising scrolls and a small maple leaf. The Franklin Mint mintmark appears at the bottom of the field.
