Obverse description Depiction in relief of the American brig Somers capsizing in heavy seas, her masts and rigging collapsing as the hull rolls to starboard amid breaking waves. The Latin legend arcs along the upper border, while the date and location inscription appear in the lower exergue. The engraver's signature C. WRIGHT is visible along the right inner border.
