Obverse description The obverse depicts the Peter and Paul Cathedral of Leningrad in low relief to the left, with three ascending stylized rocket or column forms decorated with five-pointed stars rising from the lower centre in high relief, symbolising scientific and technological progress. Two laurel branches flank the lower field, and radiating lines fill the background. The designer's signature and mint mark appear in the lower right exergue.
