| Obverse description | Central field depicts the Rhine ferry Christophorus sailing on the river beneath a large suspension bridge (the Rheinbrücke) in detailed relief. The legend above reads NACH FERTIGSTELLUNG DER RHEINBRÜCKE, and the lower field bears the inscription identifying the vessel and the date of its last voyage. Engravers' names WERNER GODEC and FRITZ SCHEPFAT appear in the lower field on either side of the ship. |
