| Obverse description | Central field depicts the Rhine ferry Christophorus sailing on the river, with the newly completed Rheinbrücke (Rhine bridge) spanning in relief behind it. The upper legend arcs around the bridge, and the lower field carries a two-line inscription recording the last voyage on 3 September 1965. Designer names WERNER GODEC and FRITZ SCHEPPAT appear in small lettering in the lower field. |
