Reverse description A full-length armoured knight strides to the left, raising a large heraldic shield bearing the Prussian eagle. A horizontal band across the centre of the field depicts a battle scene in low relief with cavalry and infantry engaged in combat. The date 22. AUG. and year 1914 are inscribed in the lower field on either side of the knight's legs, with the engraver's signature SPLIETH at the bottom. The legend DEM SIEGER VON LONGWY curves along the upper rim within a beaded border.
