Obverse description Central field displays the heraldic shield of King William's College, quartered with a robed figure flanked by columns, crossed staffs with fleur-de-lis, and crossed keys, surmounted by a bishop's mitre with the founding date 1668 above. A ribbon scroll below the shield bears the motto ASSIDUITATE NON DESIDIA. The circular legend naming the college and Isle of Man runs around the border within a milled edge, the medal being struck in medal alignment and showing attractive iridescent toning.

Reverse description The reverse features the legend ATHLETIC • SPORTS arching around the upper border within a milled edge, flanked by a laurel wreath in high relief at the lower half. The central field, enclosed by a circular frame, bears engraved inscriptions recording the event: SACK RACE, open, 1883, Won by H. C. Dobree, with decorative engraved ornaments surrounding the text. A small five-pointed star appears at the base of the wreath.
