Reverse description Central scene depicting the polar exploration vessel Pourquoi-Pas? under full sail amid icebergs and ice floes. A seal rests on ice to the left and a penguin stands to the right. The dates 1867 and 1936 appear in small circular cartouches in the upper left and right corners respectively. The ship's name POURQUOI-PAS? is inscribed on a banner below the central scene. In the lower exergue, a ship's steering wheel with crossed anchors is shown in relief.
