Reverse description A recessed central field contains a raised replica of an ancient city-coin of Jaffa struck during the reign of Emperor Elagabalus (217-222 CE), depicting a standing figure of Athena in robes, holding a spear in her right hand and a shield in her left, with the Greek legend ΦΛΔΟΥ ΙΟΠΠΗC arranged around her. The broad outer rim bears a Hebrew inscription above reading the coin of Jaffa with Hebrew date numerals, and the English legend COIN OF JAFFA 217-222 C.E. along the lower rim, flanked by two dots.
