| Obverse description | The Rhodesian coat of arms in high relief at centre, supported by two sable antelopes and surmounted by a Zimbabwe bird, with the motto NOMINE DIGNA on a scroll below. The date 19 75 flanks the arms in the field. The border of the decagonal medal features ten panels, each containing a floral or foliate device accompanied by years ranging from 1965 to 1977, marking successive years of independence.
