Reverse description The reverse features an elaborate allegorical composition in high relief. In the upper field, three classical figures — representing Belgium flanked by two armored allegorical figures of the nations — are shown in reconciliation, with a shield bearing the Belgian lion and the inscription CHARTE DE 1830 prominently displayed. Behind them, city views of Verviers on the left and Aix-la-Chapelle (Aachen) with a railway viaduct on the right are visible. In the lower register, two reclining river gods symbolizing the Escaut and Rhine rivers flank a ram's head, with caduceus emblems on either side. The inscription commemorating the inauguration of the Verviers–Aix-la-Chapelle railway on 15 October 1843 and the name of the Minister of Public Works Dechamps appear in the exergue.
