Obverse description Five Prussian thaler coins in high relief are arranged in a quincunx pattern across the field, each depicting the laureate or draped bust of a successive Prussian king: Frederick the Great (FRIDERICUS BORUSSORUM REX), Friedrich Wilhelm II, Friedrich Wilhelm III, Friedrich Wilhelm IV, and Wilhelm I, each with their respective legend along the coin rim. The interstices between the coins are filled with four Prussian heraldic eagles in relief, their spread wings and talons forming a decorative background.
