Obverse description The field displays two heraldic shields side by side: the left bearing the Visconti serpent (biscione), emblem of Milan, and the right bearing the winged Lion of Saint Mark, emblem of Venice. A mural crown surmounts the shields, and crossed sceptres appear below. The circular Latin legend reads around the entire periphery.

Reverse description The reverse features a detailed Imperial crown at the top of the field, below which a four-line Latin inscription in relief occupies the centre, commemorating the oath of allegiance sworn at Milan on 15 May 1815. The plain field is unbordered save for a raised rim.
