Reverse description The reverse features a polished mirror field enclosed by a double-line oval border with decorative corner ornaments. At the top, the date '1797' appears within an ornate cartouche. The central field bears a multi-line inscription recording key historical events of the year 1797, including the inauguration of John Adams, the launch of the frigate United States, the appointment of commissioners to France, and the beginning of the XYZ Affair.
