Obverse description The obverse features a central gilt portrait bust of Gerhart Hauptmann facing slightly left, set against a dark enamelled field, flanked by two inset silver-detailed coin effigies: at left, a portrait coin inscribed '150. GEBURTSTAG GERHART HAUPTMANN', and at right, a German federal eagle coin inscribed 'BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND 10 2012'. Behind the central bust, a reference to his play 'Die Weber' is visible in relief. The legend 'GERHART HAUPTMANN' curves along the upper border and '150.
