At centre, the shield of the 1st Airborne Division on a ribbon inscribed with the unit designation flanks a four-line verse in raised lettering across the field. Below, the arms of the 1st Polish Parachute Brigade appear on a similar ribbon, above a low-relief panoramic silhouette of the burning towns of Arnhem and Oosterbeek with the Rhine bridge and church towers visible. |
