Obverse description Right-facing bust of Minerva (Athena) in high relief, wearing a classical helmet decorated with a figural scene in relief on the bowl. The engraver's signature T.W.VON.SC. appears below the truncation, with the date MDCCCXIV in the lower field. The circumferential legend LIVERPOOL ROYAL INSTITUTION runs around the upper border, and the medal bears a suspension hole pierced at the top.
