Above the scene, the winged figure of Fame flies trumpeting, holding an oval medallion bearing a portrait bust of Nelson inscribed with his name and title. A multi-line Italian inscription in the lower field records the date of Ferdinand IV's restoration to the throne on 10 July 1799.
