Reverse description A pedestal bearing three heraldic shields surmounted by a laurel wreath occupies the centre of the field, with the names of six Peninsular War battles inscribed on the face of the pedestal. A trophy of arms surrounds the pedestal, including spears, a cannon, a telescope, and trumpets. The circular legend around the border records the entry into Madrid on 12 August. The engraver's initials P.W.P. appear at the base.
