Obverse description The obverse field is filled with incuse lettering commemorating George D. Dean as numismatist and collector, spanning 1964 to 1984, with references to Coles Book Arcade and the address at 8 Woolton St., Tarragindi, QLD. A stylised rainbow motif in relief appears in the lower portion of the field. The whole is bordered by a beaded rim.

Reverse description The reverse features a prominent relief depiction of a palm tree with drooping fronds, rising from a grassy mound at the base, dominating the central field. A motivational legend in bold raised lettering is arranged in three lines on either side of the tree trunk. The engraver's initials A.J.P. appear in the exergue, and the whole is bordered by a beaded rim.
