Obverse description The crowned coat of arms of the city of Bern, featuring a bear passant on a diagonal-striped shield, surmounted by a mural crown with a radiant Swiss cross above, all flanked by oak and laurel wreaths. Small dated shields appear within the wreath arrangement. The circular legend frames the design, with the dates 1191–1891 in the lower field.
