Obverse description Two nude male figures in high relief occupy the field: a kneeling adult man holds a hammer in his right hand while resting his left hand on the shoulder of a youth standing before him, both figures gazing toward modernistic festival buildings rendered in low relief in the background. The legend FESTIVAL OF BRITAIN curves along the upper rim, with the date 1951 in the lower exergue, and the engraver's signature P. VINCZE appears to the lower right of the composition.
