Obverse description In the lower field, two seated figures face each other in relief: Chairman Mao Zedong on the left and President Richard M. Nixon on the right, depicted in armchairs in a diplomatic meeting scene. The upper portion of the field is filled with a bilingual legend in Latin and Chinese characters repeating the peace motto, with the engraver's initials 'Vm' visible at the bottom of the field.
