Reverse description A turreted, enthroned female allegory representing the city of Besançon, seated facing front with arms outstretched, holding an oak wreath in her left hand and a medal or coin in her right. Scientific and industrial instruments, including laboratory glassware and mechanical tools, are arranged at either side of the throne. A four-line inscription occupies the lower exergue, with the circular legend arcing above along the rim and the engraver's signature CAQUÉ.F. on the base of the throne.
