| Obverse description | The arms of the city of Le Havre in high relief at centre, depicting a crowned shield quartered with fleurs-de-lis above and a lion passant below, supported by decorative mantling and flanked by elaborate palm and wheat sprays. A radiant sun with a face appears at the top, and the entire composition is set upon an anchor. Two scrolled banners carry the legends VILLE DU HAVRE above and NUTRISCO ET EXTINGUO below the shield. |
