Obverse description The obverse features a detailed relief of the Puerta de Alcalá triumphal arch in Madrid against a mirror-polished field. At the center, a genuine gilt Spanish 25 pesetas coin (1497–1997, Melilla commemorative) is inset into the medal. The legend ESPAÑA arcs along the top and MADRID: PUERTA DE ALCALÁ along the bottom.
