| Obverse description | Conjoined busts of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, both facing left in high relief against a flat field. The Queen is depicted with a laureate and jewelled diadem, her hair elaborately dressed and pinned, while Prince Philip appears in plain civilian attire. The peripheral legend reads ELIZABETH:II:D:G:REGINA:F:D in Latin script arcing across the upper right, with PHILIP DUKE OF EDINBURGH continuing around the upper left, the two inscriptions separated by a decorative pellet device. The effigies are rendered in a bold, sculptural style characteristic of mid-twentieth-century medallic art. |
