Obverse description Conjoined busts of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra in right-facing profile, both wearing crowns, set in high relief against a flat field. Edward is depicted in robes with a large bow at the shoulder, Alexandra wearing a beaded necklace and cross pendant. The circular legend around the rim reads KING EDWARD VII · QUEEN ALEXANDRA.

Reverse description The arms of the City of Cardiff displayed centrally with a goat supporter on the left and a sea-dragon supporter on the right, surmounted by the Prince of Wales feathers and a motto scroll reading Y DDRAIG GOCH DDYRY CYCHWYN. A scrolled banner below bears the inscription THE QUEEN ALEXANDRA DOCK and the date 13TH JULY 1907. The surrounding circular legend commemorates the royal visit, with the names of the Lord Mayor Sir W.S. Crossman K.t. and Town Clerk J.L. Wheatley inscribed along the lower rim.
