Obverse description Conjoined busts of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra facing left in high relief, both wearing crowns and robes. Edward VII is identified by Gothic lettering to the left reading 'H.M. Edward VII', with 'H.M. QUEEN ALEX-ANDRA 1902' inscribed in the field to the right. A suspension hole is pierced at the top of the medal.

Reverse description The Arms of the City of York displayed centrally on a shield, surmounted by a crown and flanked by a sword and mace, with a scroll below bearing the name 'YORK'. Flanking the shield are two Tudor roses in relief. The legend around the upper periphery reads 'CORONATION JUNE 26TH 1902', and inscriptions below name the Lord Mayor and Sheriff of York. A suspension hole is pierced at the top.
