Obverse description Right-facing bust of William Harvey in relief at the center of the field, flanked by his birth and death years 1578 and 1657, with his name WILLIAM HARVEY inscribed to either side of the effigy. The circular legend reads ENTDECKER DES BLUTKREISLAUFES along the upper rim, with the date 1628 in the lower exergue, commemorating the year of his discovery of blood circulation.
